Do You Prefer Telehealth Or In-person Appointments? Why?

I prefer office visits. Firstly, every office visit includes labs. I’m a high risk PV female on Jakafi. That in itself dictates frequent labs (at intervals not to exceed 3 months).

I also have co-morbidities, some which have interplay with the state of my PV and some resulting probably from first HU and now Jakafi.

My spleen bothers me— painful from time to time; and even though palpitation of it subjectively suggests that it isn’t enlarged, my platelet counts haven’t retreated below 700k in over a year and frequently higher.

My liver functions las labs were slipping, so that also needs monitoring.

Telehealth visits may see convenient for some; but they cannot replace in person observation!

I would have monthly blood draws and my oncologist would call me a few days later to talk about results and any questions I may have had. I would request an in person visit every few months and write out my questions before I went. I did this for 18 months or so and then because my blood work was very good she requested blood work every three months. I am on pegasys interferon.

Depends on the needs for followup if lab orders are in and results automatically recv back shortly thereafter it just a discussion of current status and direction ; they both have value in today's times especially if you have a platform with you hospital to get your results your self you are your best advocate

Although telehealth is more convenient I think I prefer an in-person appointment. Maybe every other appointment would be good. Face to face with a doctor is more reassuring and personal than just a person on a screen or over the phone. I know my doctors will definitely call me in if they see any changes in my lab work or if I have any other problems that are cause for concerns.
