I was recently diagnosed with afib and the dr on duty sd they would contact my cardiologist to put me on blood thinners. I’m already a bleeder on pegasys so I don’t bleed. How does this work?
I had a single incident of AFIB, last September, hospitalized . I have a (not treated) first degree heart block, congenitial. Had a complete cardio workup, scan and all. No issues but placed on 5mg Eliquis as a precaution. Doing great! ET, JAK 2; CLL
I’m on Eliquis-blood thinner for a DVT I had last year. I haven’t had any problems or side effects from taking them.
I just have to be careful not to cut myself or hurt myself while on blood thinners and Hydrea.
I was on blood thinners for years, then had a small, hemorrhagic stroke, at which point for other reasons I changed hematologists.
The new one very carefully diagrammed why I needed blood thinners in 2001, but not now, and took me off them.
Because I have a genetic predisposition to clotting, I do take a low dose baby aspirin daily.
Blood thinners can be difficult to manage, tho I was on warfarin and don’t know about the newer ones, but afib is also nothing to ignore.
For my bleeding I use a white crayon looking tool. I do not know what it is called but you can get them at CVS. It helps to stop the bleeding for paper cuts, razor cuts, small cuts. You wet the tip and apply it to the area. It will sting a bit but the bleeding stops within seconds. I just looked it up it is called a Styptic Pencil.
Oh wow! I always wondered that too! I carry around bandaids in my purse but I don’t think that would help in your case. Better check with your doc. Or contact the pharmacy, they will know dear.
