I have ET, Jak2 pos.
Last night I drank some ginger ale to settle my stomach. By bed time I could feel the tingling start to leg cramps due to the carbonation. I wondered if the arnica oil I use on my bad hip could help. So I rubbed my calf and foot with the arnica oil before going to bed. It worked! Slept straight through 7 hours with no cramps! Just wanted to share that in case someone could use it.
That was gin
I can't drink tonic water. The carbonation gives me leg cramps.
Although the quinine concentration in these products is low, it is enough to cause severe low platelet counts and critical bleeding in patients who are sensitive to quinine.
MODERATION is the key
With the recent popularity of "mocktails" there are lots more options for tonic water rather than just sugary Canada Dry in a plastic bottle. I'm in the US and really like Betty Buzz tonic water (Blake Lively's brand) --
it does have added sugar in the form of agave, and has 13g carbs/9 oz bottle (glass) 😊
i've read that quinine can be hard on the kidneys and liver but I think you'd have to consume unusual amounts for it to have toxic side effects (??)
