One of the possible side effects of hydroxyurea is the development of other cancers, including skin cancers. I am extra cautious about sun exposure, having had some basal cell carcinomas over the years and also one melanoma. These may have been due to over exposure to sun in my misspent youth, but I use SPF 100, sun hats and protective clothing in recent years as there is no reason to invite additional trouble.
