My children were tested after I was diagnosed, just to know for prevention and monitoring, and both were negative.

It is fair to have your children tested. I have hereditary ET and the lack of diagnosis for my dad while he was alive meant both of us lived with horrible symptoms not knowing what caused them. When my genetic test (especially the second one) came back, the geneticist was clear this is an inherited ET. Better know and monitor than feel so ill and be dismissed because doctors are not familiar with MPNs.

Hi, Shannon. I, too, wonder if my three adult sons need to be tested. I plan on asking my hema/oncologist this question.
