Members shared a wide range of approaches to navigating holiday treats while managing their conditions, from enjoying everything in moderation and getting back on track afterward, to avoiding sweets entirely due to side effects or personal health goals. Several members described practical strategies like choosing keto options, limiting portions to small bites, focusing on foods that help with specific needs such as weight gain or iron avoidance, and recognizing that sugar can worsen inflammation or fuel certain conditions. A recurring theme was the balance between finding joy in holiday traditions and listening to what their bodies truly need, with many encouraging others to be kind to themselves and celebrate life while staying mindful of their unique health challenges.

I'll bake an apple pie for Thanksgiving. Yummy. Up until several years ago, I used to enjoy a cookie after dinner. Somewhere along the way I lost my sweet tooth. I do enjoy a chunk of a very dark chocolate bar...not sweet.

I don't have an issue with avoiding treats during holidays.

I am still far under my pre-MPN weight. My Driver's license says I was 240 pounds, but the last time I weighed myself, I was 185 pounds. Every day, I drink a supplement with 240 extra calories and 25% of the RDA of bunch of vitamins. I try to eat ice cream at least 2-3 times per week, to help put on weight. I also try to eat a variety of healthy food. Whenever I have to give blood, I have to fast for some of the tests, so right after that, I go to McD*s and get a big breakfast with hotcakes. So, that is an extra 1340 calories! I tell myself I will stop caloric loading if I ever get to 200 pounds. Pass the pumpkin pie!🙂
