Erin Reynolds Carawan, I have been a registered radiologic technologist since 1977. As a staff tech in a hospital for 3.5 of those years, then an educator for 15, then a department administrator for almost 30, I too wondered about exposure to radiation being in the room during long procedures, holding patients for exams, etc. Despite always wearing a lead apron and observing ALARA (as low as reasonably allowable) principles, I still wonder if it's something I did along the way. After first being diagnosed with myelofibrosis 4 years ago, my mind quickly went to this as a potential cause. I had to let that go as we will never really know, at least in our lifetimes, the specific reason for getting the disease.

Yeah, very interesting about the potentiality (high probability ) cell damage from the Covid fiasco.

Working around radiation from any source, any length of time, any level begs the question of whether or not cell damage, however impacting , was the result of. Especially if no other plausible cause is visible.

All the best

When I was first diagnoced with ET in 2002, I read an article that said that people who recieved elevated radiation exposure from nuclear power work would have a higher risk of developing ET. I was a nuclear power worker with lifetime exposer at 15 rem. Any interaction with radiation whether from natural sources , Nuclear power plants, x-rays etc Has the possibility to result in a cellular mutation. Most cellular mutaions result in cell death or may not affect cell functions. However the higher the radiation exposure the greater the probability of cancer. So for me,you could say it is possible.
It is interesting and probably coincidental that high platelets were 1st identified during my 1st physical after taking my 1st and only covid 19 shot
