I’ve been on hydroxyurea for three years with no side effects and platelets well under control at about 400. I take 500 mg five days a week.( I’m 82)
Recently, I feel I have serious neuropathy in my legs and feet… a lot of tingling and burning…
I’m wondering how common this connection might be.?
I hesitate to ask for a different medication because I’ve adapted so well to hydroxy; however, I certainly wouldn’t want the neuropathy to get worse.
Appreciate any information.
It does help to keep moving.
I had the neuropathy before I was diagnosed. My feet were numb and hands and arms were tingly. I found acupuncture was helpful to relieve symptoms. Also massage of the lower legs and feet provided a lot of relief. I think my problem was mainly due to poor circulation. As I sit here now, my feet and hands feel almost normal, but the neuropathy will flare up, especially after a lot of exercise.
Which herbs?
Acupuncture and Chinese herbs have been really helpful for me. Lowered blood pressure within weeks
I have also found acupuncture to help and massage of the lower leg. I think some of the numbness I feel is due to poor circulation. Acupuncture, activity and massage really seem to help.
