I had metastatic thyroid cancer , too. I had 3 iodine treatments and radiation therapy, and agree with you. I think the iodine really messes up your body long term.
When I asked Dr, he said no one knows how ET starts. It would be so satisfying to assign a cause for this. We have to get past that and get on with living the best lives we can.

What was the reason for your hysterectomy? I had endometrial cancer stage 1A. It was low risk but the hysterectomy was suggested. My care team was aware of the JAK2 before my surgery. I told them I was concerned about clotting or bleeding during the surgery. How are you going on with your breast cancer treatment?

I had a total hysterectomy in 2023 and suffered an arterial clot in my calf immediately afterwards. No one ever thought to wonder why my platelets were so high. I was dx with Jak2 ET in August 2025 after seeking treatment for easy bruising, bleeding, and fatigue, and then dx with breast cancer in September 2025. I am clearly genetically flawed lol.

That’s a good question MilaDineros, I had Basal skin Cancer before being diagnosed with ET/CALR and many on this site have another form of Cancer before being Dx with MPNs. I was in the sun a lot and the sun emits radiation. So it’s possible. Praying for a cure!
