Who In Your Life Best Understands How Having MPN Affects You, And How Do They Support You?
I understand - I have told a few people that I have bone marrow cancer and leave it at that if they do not seem to want further explanation. It's tricky enough explaining it all to our family and close friends!
MJGee and Mysticalcub - I agree with what you both said. As soon as my son knew it was something I could live with (have a normal life span per my hematologist oncologist) and that I was being treated, it's like it went away. I feel that I can't even bring up how I'm feeling because they will think I'm a hypochondriac!
I tell people that a gene in my bone marrow mutated and it’s the one that regulates red blood cells so they don’t shut off . Like a broken water facet….
Thanks Mysticalcub! It's just a shame that our closest loved ones can't understand fully... perhaps it's uncomfortable/fearful for them to think of their loved one as vulnerable. But you are right that we can vent to each other and see what each other is feeling. Let's keep on sharing!
It is confusing even for those of us that have done research. I now tell people I have Bone Marrow failure. Not much need to go deeper than that.
