I was diagnosed with Essential Thrombocytosis in May 2022
After speaking to my VA Doctor and Oncology Hematologist, I went on to a Veteran health site and found that the indicator (platelet counts near 800) had been ignored for over 10 years by multiple VA doctors only interested in my urinalysis results, obviously ignoring my blood counts

I had high plalettes in 2004, no symptoms, no clotting, no diagnosed. I don't think military doctors knew about MPN in2004. Twelve years later i was given a PMF diagnosis. WOW... I'm now being treated for PMF.

22+ years with ET, and now PV, I believe we are treated once we have symptoms, and/or when one or more levels in our blood get dangerously, life threateningly high.
Minus risk factors such as one I have, a genetic predisposition to clotting which contributed to blood clots in 2001, one can go years without real “disease”, or need for treatment, as I understand it.
Why Are Doctors So Reluctant To Use The Word Cancer In MPNs Or To Dismiss Quality Of Of Life Impact?
I Was Diagnosed In 2013 With ET. Biopsy Confirmed The Jak 2 Mutation. Is This MPN Condition Classified As Cancer?
