Remove Spleen
hi , once red the comparison between the spleen and a graveyard
if you remove it where are those dead bodies going
so removing the spleen does that not move the blood production ?
Bert, you probably are well aware that with worsening MF, the bone marrow becomes so scarred (fibrosis) that the blood cells can’t form normally, which leads to the need for blood transfusions often. The platelets also “suffer” when they then are much lower than normal in numbers, so the blood doesn’t clot as well and then you have more of a risk for bleeding. The liver and spleen TRY to make more blood cells when the bone marrow gradually stops working, so then the spleen gets larger. If I’m missing the point of your question, maybe someone else can come up with a better answer. Sorry if I’m just reiterating what you already know.
MaryAnnYoung Thanks ,so stop of production of blood now i understand , what is the reason for spleen and liver to stop ?
because i understand all blood production in mf stops
maryAnnYoung , yrs i also knew liver takes ober
but the next MF phase in a stop of blood production
is there a know reason for that
what is the strange reason for this , why not in 'normal humans'
Hi Bert,
It’s unfortunate when the disease gets to the point where there must be a splenectomy. However, our bodies were created by a God who also built in backup systems for various failures. For instance, with the spleen removed, the liver can take over many of the spleen’s functions. Probably the main risk factor is in guarding against serious infections, and that is then going to be a lifelong problem - the compromised immune system. But when one’s medical team offers a splenectomy, the benefit undoubtedly outweighs untoward possibilities, and it can resolve a lot of the blood cancer issues. Many people have had to have the spleen removed, as I’m sure you have read in the case of severe accidents, and it has saved their lives. There are multiple reasons to explain the need in other cases. Of course, it is serious when someone here is facing splenectomy, but don’t look at it as an end-of-the-road thing. Many of us will be praying, knowing that with God nothing is impossible.
