Are Blood Clots Common With MPN's

A myMPNteam Member asked a question 💭
Wilkes Barre, PA

Has anyone who does not have a family history and is healthy, actually had a blood clot due to their MPN.
I'm really curious because I hear a lot of hype about these blood clots, should I worry if I'm very healthy with ET and only 450 platelets.
If so what were your platelet levels?

Yes, In April 2022 I was admitted to the hospital with blood clots in both lungs and platelets over 950. I was referred to a Hematologist and diagnosed with ET.

I had blood clots in both lungs in 2001, with platelets at about 880,000.

I was diagnosed with ET, also with a genetic predisposition to clotting.

I took warfarin for years, now a low dose aspirin daily after a small, hemorrhagic stroke 6 years ago.

I believe the risk of clots varies, depending on individual factors.
