For me, small cuts and mosquito bites can take weeks to heal completely. I am sure the aspirin and Xarelto don't help with that. I don't really have trouble with bleeding stopping, though.
On cellulitis, I have had numerous thrombophlebitis, but only two that caused major swelling. One on top of my foot and another on back of leg (DVT) that caused major swelling. The doctors thought these were cellulitis at first. On the foot, they prescribed antibiotics. Once the swelling came down (a week later), you could tell it was an inflamed vein. On the DVT, the ER treated it with antibiotics and an anticoagulant shot in stomach until the ultrasound was done the following day showing the DVT. That is when I was started on the Xarelto. Since going on hydroxyurea in March 2023, my WBC differential is more normal (fewer immature granulocytes and more lymphocytes) and HCT is staying below 45%. I have only had one minor phlebitis episode since then. I wear compression socks when I travel more than two hours in the car or plane and walk regularly. Hope this helps.
Vitamin A C zinc for wound healing. Are you diabetic?
Thank you, Randy. You suggest a fascinating option I would love to take advantage of, yet I sincerely doubt my pragmatic and control-oriented Kaiser Permanente insurance provider would provide coverage. π
I will not be able to foot the bill myself until sometime after my graduation from law school next year. ππ
Ben,
You might want to look into hyperbaric oxygen treatment for wound healing. I have been doing this for a month to heal radiation damage done by radiation therapy for prostate cancer. My urologist recently did a cystoscopy and noted that radiation damage to my bladder had been helped since starting the treatment. WARNING. The treatment is time consuming and for me, logistically difficult, also very expensive. I travel 30mi. To the center, spend 2hr at 2.5 atmospheres in the tube. My insurance covers this - it is very expensive. That said, it is the only thing that is effective for my situation.
Cheers
I have never had that problem in the 6 years I was diagnosed.
