I Was Diagnosed With JAK2 Mutation. I’ve Had Bone Marrow Aspiration And Biopsy, But All Inconclusive.

Lancashire United Kingdom

My haematologist has informed me I don’t have cancer at the moment, but he believes I will have cancer in due course.
Has anyone in this situation with JAK2 mutation and VAL of less than 5% never developed cancer? How long before I will be positive for MPN? His attitude was that my cancer is likely to occur very soon. I don’t know what to think or panic about this.

Do not panic. Many people who progress live decades. Start learning about the mechanics of MPN's, the genetic side, and the organs that can all get involved. Learn as much as you can but stay away from websites like WebMD as they're too vague for our diseases/cancers. You can find a ton of studies online. There's also a few really great Facebook groups that I've found so so helpful. And you can search through the older posts too using search words that apply to you specifically. I like that because I can read older questions people have asked and all the answers they've received. Best of luck to you.
