Does Anyone Get Phlebotomy As Their Only Treatment. Also Does Anyone Have Issues With Instant Recall For New Laws And Procedures, For Work?
A myMPNteam Member asked a question 💭

I have PV JAK 2 positive. My numbers have not gotten too high. I get pins and needles itching and and I’m tired. At work I have issues with instant recall of new laws and procedures.

Stress does not explain the memory issues in MPN.
MPNs are quite brutal on circulation, which can result in various types of neurological issues such as numbness, dizziness and cognitive dysfunction.
Memory issues are part of MPN symptoms, as MPNs affect blood vessels. Our bodies often produce more blood cells (either platelets or red blood cells) than needed and this congests blood vessels. Our blood cells tend also to be hyperactive, which can also add more burden on circulation.
MPNs involve chronic inflammation, which is a known contributor to neurological issues including memory issues.
"Prominent symptoms include fatigue (92.7%), early satiety (61.9%), abdominal pain (45.9%), abdominal discomfort (53.2%), inactivity (60.5%), headache (48.3%), concentration problems (61.7%), dizziness (55.2%), numbness (61.3%), insomnia (65.4%), sad mood (62.7%), sexuality problems (57.9%), cough (46.4%), night sweats (56.4%), itching (52.6%), bone pain (48.5%), fever (20.2%), weight loss (34.2%), and impaired quality of life (84.2%) "

It is normal to want to explain away your symptoms, but it is good to know memory issues are a part of the MPN symptoms and not due to stress. And that you need to see your MPN specialist when these memory issues affect your functioning. Sometimes you have to fight for your symptoms to be acknowledged, sadly.

Best regards,
Tatiana

Well, that could do it. Ask me how I know this. 🙄

I kept notes when I was still working, cheat sheets of a sort, which I found very helpful.

Stress can temporarily affect memory and recall, and it’s pretty common to be stressed over our MPN’s, as well as other things.
