I was on hydroxyurea for a year and gained 15 lbs. I did not change my exercise or eating routine. I switched to Besremi in March. I have lost 20 lbs. I don’t know why.

I became incredibly hungry and gained several pounds over a couple of months while really trying hard not to overeat. I started taking Akkermansia and it has helped (after taking it for a couple of months) reduce my appetite to normal levels.

I lost weight while taking hydrea. The weight loss started right away. I sometimes forgot to eat because I didn't feel the normal hunger signals. I started eating more and gained some of the weight back.

This is another example of how our bodies react differently to medications.
