Vaccination against herpes zoster
In hematological malignancies the risk of herpes zoster is increased, but use of the live attenuated herpes zoster vaccine, Zostavax is contraindicated in immunosuppression due to the risk of vaccine virus infection. There is no such risk with the new recombinant zoster vaccine Shingrix (2 doses). Effectiveness has been studied after autologous SCT due to: MM or B-cell Non Hodgkin lymphoma and MM and Hodgkin lymphoma. Vaccination of adults with Shingrix is recommended for hematological malignancies and SCT. It is now reimbursed after SCT (allogeneic or autologous); if SCT is planned; in persons with hematological cancer who are treated with immunosuppressive treatment, whereby vaccination must be administered before, during or after treatment (reimbursement only with a doctor's note).
i am abit reluctant since my meds (jakafi) gave me a heavy infection , will ask my specialyst what he thinks about it
