Had knee replacement two years ago and just stopped blood thinner for a few days. Stayed on hydroxyurea.

Duane, I have had two cataract surgeries and a breast reduction surgery in the past few months. My hemo/onc coordinated with my surgeons. I had to stop my low-dose aspirin three days before each surgery but not the hydroxyurea.

I have not had knee replacement but recently had shoulder replacement, and echo what Suzanne9 said. Surgeon coordinated with my hematologist, all went very well. All the best to you.

I’m not sure what mixed messages you got. When I’ve had a couple of minor procedures, I had to stop the blood thinner but was allowed stay on the Hydroxyurea. But these were minor procedures. Of course the concern would be bleeding and clots. Hopefully you can get your questions answered more satisfactorily.
