I went to see ophthalmologist and she couldn’t find anything wrong! 🤷🏽♀️ so that’s why I’ve decided to make an appointment with an an MPN specialist! I wish I had done it sooner instead of waiting 6 mos. Sending prayers! 🙏🏼

Pain is a warning that something is wrong. Eye pain is not a common ET symptom but there can be ocular and visual migraines. Note that the eye pain may not be ET related but is definitely something to follow up on ASAP. As already suggested, prompt consultation with hematology and ophthalmology is indicated..

Eye pain isn't commonly listed as a direct symptom of ET, but vision-related issues are definitely associated with this condition. People with ET may experience:
- Headaches (which can sometimes involve eye pain)
- Vision problems like blurred vision or blind spots
- Visual disturbances from silent migraines (seeing flashes of light)
These symptoms often relate to the high platelet count affecting blood flow to the eyes and surrounding areas. The thicker, stickier blood can impact circulation in vessels connected to your visual organs.
If you're experiencing eye pain, it's important to discuss this with your hematologist. They may recommend seeing an ophthalmologist who can examine your eyes more thoroughly and establish a baseline for monitoring any changes related to your ET.
A myMPNteam member with polycythemia vera mentioned how their ophthalmologist took extra images and examined factors beyond a regular exam once they knew about the blood cancer diagnosis.
Low-dose aspirin, commonly prescribed for ET, sometimes helps relieve visual disturbances and related symptoms by reducing platelet function and improving blood flow.

I have ET, and I have pain in both eyes. But I’m not sure which eye drops to use, since some have been recalled. My platelet count was down this time to 431. Not sure if this is related. Drs appt soon. God bless all of you. Praying for us all.
