What you present there does not correspond to reality. The vaccine from AstraZeneca was not an mRNA vaccine, as you imply, it was a traditional type of vaccine using a viral vector. Nothing to do with mRNA, as you speculate.

The very rare side-effects related to that particular vaccine were mostly due the interaction between the adenovirus used as vector and a particular protein in the blood.
Absolutely nothing to do with your MPN mutation, which very likely you acquired very early on in life.
There are enough studies that showed, repeatedly, that the somatic mutations that cause MPNs are acquired early on in life, in utero and in the first years of life. Sometimes the accumulation of mutated cells is slow, sometimes it is faster. There are many factors that can contribute to this, including chance and age. MPNs have existed since humans exist, nothing to do with vaccines.

One should not conflate coincidences with causality, as MPNs take decades to develop.
Just because an acute health issue caused by a very specific factor involves platelets does not mean that a chronic disease, that is genetic and takes decades to manifest, being diagnosed around a vaccine or another, has the same cause as the acute issue. Many things involve platelets and have nothing to do with MPNs.

I am part of a Familial MPN cluster. My daughter and I both have the JAK2 mutation that has caused a MPN. We both have the JAK2 46/1 (GGCC) MPN predisposing haplotype, which is an inherited predisposition to acquiring the JAK2 mutation. It is now known that many p[eoiple with the JAK2 mutation develop it in early childhood, sometime in utero. It then can take decades for the MPN to manifest. Some people carry the JAK2 mutation without developing a MPN, a condition known as Clonal Hematopoiesis of Indeterminate Potential (CHIP). It is known for sure what triggers the manifestation of a MPN for someone already carrying the JAK2 mutation. Exposure to environmental carcinogens is one of the very plausible theories. Evidence for this is found in the Pennsylvania PV cluster.

The full answer will likely be that MPNs are multidetermined. More than one factor is in play in developing the driver mutation and then in it manifesting as a MPN. We need more research intot he underlying causes to be sure.

To AgapeLove from Rozine. I was diagnosed in 1997, but there wasn't the testing there is today. I had a genetic test done that showed the Mutation. Later In 2002 I had a BM Biospy that confirmed it. In about 2020 or 21 I did Ancestry DNA , I sent the DNA results to a lab and the first thing that came back was a diagnosis of MF, with the Jak2##### variation. A BM Biopsy in 2023 confirmed my PV had progressed to MF . I hope all of you read the article on why MPN's are showing up later in life. One of the interesting thing is the now TeT2 mutation which showed up in my 2023 Biopspy but wasn't considered as anything. Now its is a new mutation.

I think it's like why do only some smokers get COPD and/or lung cancer while many do not? There is so much that is not known about our bodies and disease. MPNs are rare so not enough is known and like Steve said, there are probably multiple reasons. I'm always kind of amazed our bodies work at all 😏 The body is so complicated and processes work within such narrow parameters. 🙂
