I tried reading some of the tests results from BMB, and they’re hard to understand. Dr hasn’t seen them yet. Do you know where you find the confirmation of dx? I have ET with CALR but on the report it has Thrombocytosis finding. I will ask the Dr when I talk to him but it’s been since July 16 and he hasn’t called me about the results. I e had several come back already. 🙏🏼

A bone marrow biopsy (BMB) is an important diagnostic tool for MPNs. It helps doctors look at abnormal cells and run special tests, including genetic testing to identify mutations.
The turnaround time for results can vary depending on what tests are being run:
- Basic pathology results (looking at the cells under a microscope) can take about 3 to 5 business days
- Genetic/molecular testing (like JAK2, CALR, or MPL mutation testing) can take 1 to 3 weeks or sometimes longer
The wide range is because some tests are more complex than others and may be sent to specialized labs.
The best thing to do is ask the care team upfront how long to expect to wait, and whether there's a patient portal where results might appear. That way there are no surprises — and less anxious refreshing of the inbox! 😊
