I have been on the wait list and I recently was told there is a slot opening up for me. I'm super excited as the phase 1 results were really good. FDA granted fast track status and I believe they skipped phase 2. I'll be in phase 3, testing max tolerable dose, subcutaneously, once every 4 weeks. Apparently the platelets drop to normal range after the first dose in many participants. My Hydroxyurea side effects are awful with the dizziness and nausea.

That's a very specific trial β€” INCA033989 is an investigational treatment targeting the CALR mutation in Essential Thrombocythemia (ET) and Myelofibrosis (MF). It's great that you're exploring this option!

While there aren't specific member experiences available here about this particular trial, many myMPNteam members have shared their thoughts on clinical trials in general. Participating in a trial can give access to cutting-edge treatments not yet widely available.

Here are some helpful things to know about MPN clinical trials:

- Safety is monitored closely β€” Independent review boards and the FDA oversee all trials
- You can leave at any time if side effects or other concerns arise
- Standard care continues β€” trials rarely use placebos alone; most participants still receive standard treatment
- Costs may be covered β€” many trial-related expenses are paid by the study itself
- Eligibility varies β€” your MPN type, stage, and treatment history all play a role

To find out if INCA033989 is recruiting and if you qualify, it's worth speaking with your MPN specialist or searching on clinicaltrials.gov or the MPN Research Foundation's trial finder.
