Yes as it happens to others that take HU as well. Appears you aren't able to tolerate it. Have a discussion with your dr on what Rx to try next. Good luck!

While I can’t say for sure, I think Hydrea is a caustic drug and can cause damage to the entire GI tract. When I was on it, I thought it would have killed me if I had continued with it.

I watched Barbara O’Neil on Tik Tok today who said that a small amount of coconut oil swished around in the mouth would get rid of toxins you swish for a few minutes and then spit it out into garbage not wash basin as it would solidify in the water pipes. Can’t confirm that it works perhaps you could investigate further if you think it would help Sport

Yes, I was HU intolerant, ET, JAK 2 with platelets around 500k. Even though over 65 only taking low dose aspirin, supplements, exercise and healthy diet.This is not a popular choice with MPN specialist. I am symptomless and research on other drug choices IMO would cause more problems than the ET unless a clot or heart event happens. Our drug options are very limited for less symptomatic people.

I'm being asked by my doctor to start on Hydrea 500 mg as well. All of my numbers are normal. Based on what I read, I'm concerned to start this drug. Anyone else have unpleasant side affects from this medicine?
