Are you experiencing bruising on your arms while on watch and wait for ET?

Bruising can happen with essential thrombocythemia for a few reasons. The most common causes include:

- Blood thinners like aspirin, which you're taking
- Low platelet counts (though ET typically causes high platelets, they may not function properly)
- Very high platelet levels can sometimes lead to bleeding symptoms

Since you're on baby aspirin, this could be contributing to easier bruising. Aspirin thins the blood to help prevent clots, but it can also make you bruise more easily from minor bumps or trauma.

It's worth mentioning the bruising to your hematologist, especially if:
- The bruises appear without any remembered injury
- They're increasing in number or size
- You notice other bleeding symptoms like nosebleeds or bleeding gums

While bruising can be a normal side effect of aspirin therapy, your doctor should evaluate it to make sure everything is progressing as expected with your ET management.
